SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD

This world has been happened to be so amazing and beautiful only because it has so many beautiful places and things in it. No one can deny that world since its birth has been kept explored by man and that journey is still going on. Mostly all the things that have been able marvel man a few are being listed as the wonders of the world. Mainly from time to time this list has been modified and new monuments are being incorporated in wonders of the world. There are several instances of the ancient world list, medieval world list and the latest world list. But whatever the new inclusions are, importance of the old wonders has not yet been faded. If you want to create some amazement in your life, then going and seeing one of the Seven Wonders of the World is something that can really be a greatful achievement and also an unforgettable experience.

Seven Wonders of the World are:

* Chichen Itza Pyramid, Mexico

* Christ the Redeemer, Brazil

* Colosseum in Rome

* Taj Mahal, India

* Great Wall of China

* Petra in Jordan

* Machu Picchu of Peru

Chichen Itza Pyramid, Mexico: Chichen Itza is the most significant Mayan temple city and has become an archaeological site. It is situated 29 km southwest of Valladolid, Mexico. itza Once it was the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. The structure type is of the platform pyramid, climbed through broad stairways directing to the vaulted chambers. Its walls are covered with sculptured figures and vivid coloured paintings having a close resemblance to the Aztec codices. Another significant ruin is El Castillo, a huge temple on a pyramidal mound, with staircase on four sides to the temple on the top.

Christ the Redeemer, Brazil: Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ, situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.christ1 It is 39.6 m tall and weighs 700 tons, placed at the peak of the 700 m Corcovado mountain, Tijuca Forest National Park. It is basically a symbol of Christianity and an icon of Rio and Brazil.  Idea of inception of a large religious monument on Corcovado was proposed by the Catholic priest Pedro Maria Boss. Firstly, it was refused by Princess Isabel in 1889. After that  later on second proposal was made in 1921 by Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, who organized an event basically called Monument Week, in order to collect donations, which resulted in the making this marvelous Brazil’s statue of Christ the Redeemer.

Colosseum in Rome: It is 2,000 years old and was the sports stadium for the Roman Empire where cruel fights and games were being played. This majestic structure was initiated under the Emperor Vespasianrome and completed under Emperor Titus.  Although it is now in a ruined condition due to damage caused by earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum still bears a close connection to the Roman Catholic Church.  Its significance can also be deciphered from the fact that it is depicted in the Italian version of the 5 cent euro coin.

Taj Mahal: A fully white marbled palace built in the memory of Nur Jahan, the loving late wife of the fifth Muslim Mughal emperor of India, Shah Jahan. tajmahalIt incorporates a exclusive blend of Indian, Turkish, Persian as well as Islamic architectural styles. Taj Mahal, which is also referred to as ‘the Taj’ was declared as the World Heritage Site in the year 1983. UNESCO also cited this structure, as ‘the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage’.

The Great Wall of China: Great Wall of China refers to a sequence of stone as well as earthen defenses in China that were built, reconstructed, and sustained amid the 5th century BC and the 16th century.china It is the largest man-made monument ever in this earth and was built to attack and send the Mongol tribes out of China. Amongst the famous wall in this series belongs to the period 200 BC – 220 BC, that was constructed by the first Chinese Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. However, at present its stands in a ruined state as it was much farther north in comparison to the wall constructed by the Ming Dynasty.

Petra in Jordan: Petra basically refers to an archaeological site in Arabah, Jordan, and is renowned for its rock-cut architecture.  A theater found in the edge of petraimage1the Arabian Desert and was once the capital of the Nabataean empire of King Aretas IV.  In accordance to the Dead Sea scrolls that linked with the Mount Seir, find mention of Pertra as the ancient city named Rekem. In addition to this, Eusebius as well as Jerome emphasize that Rekem was the colloquial name given to Petra.

Machu Picchu of Peru: A city built in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu and was abandoned by the Incas. Machu Picchu is situated 7000 ft. above the sea level, on a small hilltop in betweenperu the Andean Mountain Range and the Urabamba Valley below. As per estimate of the archaeologists, around 1200 people could have lived in that area; while many others hypothesize that it was recoil for Incan rulers. One of the most crucial things about Peru’s Machu Picchu is the intihuatana, a column of stone rising from a block of stone with the size of a grand piano.  It basically means for tying the sun.

However, there are numerous wonders of the world that can’t be included in the seven wonders. These wonders are enclosed in different other categories such as wonders of the industrial world, forgotten world, wonders of the ancient world, wonders of the medieval world, wonders of the modern world and even natural wonders of the world.

All these are basically man-made creations which are located in different parts of the world have a very spectacular sight. All these beautiful sights have to be seen to be enjoyed thoroughly. The Seven Wonders of the World have some great magic to them. One can visit them and have a memorable experience for life.
